Job Summary

Own media relations and public information operations for Edmonds city communications, shaping strategy, storytelling, and broad media coordination.

Responsibilities: Lead multi-channel media outreach, press materials, story pitching, event coordination, and leadership updates across local to international outlets.
Content & Production: Direct TV/video operations and visual media delivery while managing the TV/Video Production Manager and Photo/Video Coordinator to ensure consistent, on-brand broadcasts.

Job Description

Responsibilities

Communicate with local, regional, national, and international media outlets
Write and distribute internal press releases and stories
Pitch stories to media and respond to media inquiries
Coordinate news coverage and assist with press events, conferences, and public announcements
Serve as a public information representative and keep City leadership informed of major news stories
Collaborate with the Downtown Projects Manager to address concerns, handle inquiries, and organize activities
Develop and implement marketing strategies, media plans, and communication initiatives
Assist with strategic planning, budget development, and tracking ongoing projects
Direct video operations and production for TV, digital, and web-based programming
Supervise the TV/Video Production Manager and Photo/Video Coordinator

Requirements

College degree in related field (marketing, communications, PR, etc.)
5 years of related experience and/or training
Or equivalent combination of education and experience
2 years of management experience
People and/or project management
Valid Oklahoma Driver's License and a driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrier
