Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Communications : Develops, executes, and continuously evaluates a comprehensive communications and marketing strategy that aligns with the Village Board’s goals.
  • Digital Media Management : Manages and grows the Village’s social media presence across all platforms in compliance with Village policies; creates engaging content, monitors community sentiment, and applies social media best practices.
  • Website Administration : Serves as the primary webmaster, ensuring the Village website is accurate, engaging, accessible, and up to date.
  • Content Creation : Designs and produces a wide array of high-quality marketing materials, including digital graphics, brochures, flyers, newsletters, and informational videos.
  • Public Engagement : Attends Village Board meetings to produce timely, public-facing recaps and highlights for residents; promotes transparent and responsive community relations.
  • Event Coordination : Develops, organizes, and promotes various community events; represents the Village at local business functions, community gatherings, and intergovernmental meetings.
  • Media & A/V Operations : Operates and instructs others in the use of A/V equipment in the Village Board and Conference Rooms, ensuring smooth technical execution of public meetings.
  • Grant & Program Support : Researches, develops, submits, and monitors various grant applications relevant to community development and marketing; creates data-driven reports using information provided by Village departments.
  • Information Management : Modernizes archival systems by converting analog copies into secure, digital formats.
  • Safety & Teamwork : Follows safe work practices, collaborates effectively across all Village departments, and performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Education : Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
  • Experience : Proven experience managing corporate or municipal communications, social media, and marketing campaigns.
  • Technical Proficiency : Strong working knowledge of business technology (including Google Workspace) and content management systems (CMS).
  • Design Skills : Considerable proficiency in graphic design and digital media software (e.g., Adobe Creative Cloud including Illustrator/Photoshop, Canva, or similar platforms).
  • Analytical Skills : Ability to analyze marketing metrics, interpret engagement data, evaluate system performance, and present results clearly.
  • Communication Skills : Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to distill complex municipal data into clear, compelling public narratives.
  • Special Requirements : Possession of a valid Illinois driver’s license.
