Job Summary

Drive social-native video production as a versatile shooter/director for UGC-style content across DTC brands.

  • Must-have: 3–5+ years shooting or directing in fast-paced digital-first environments.
  • Standout: Portfolio with UGC-style storytelling and lifestyle content, not just traditional ads.
  • Strong collaboration with actors, influencers, and creators to deliver authentic performances.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Direct and shoot high-performing UGC-style content and socially-native B-roll for social platforms across a wide range of DTC brands
  • Capture lifestyle, product, and talent footage that feels native to social platforms — not like an ad
  • Coach actors, influencers, and real people to deliver authentic, scroll-stopping on-camera performances
  • Shoot across formats and setups — from iPhone-first scrappy content to multi-camera studio shoots — and know when each approach is right
  • Collaborate with creative strategists to translate briefs into visual content that converts
  • Shoot and style B-roll that tells a story on its own: product glamour shots, lifestyle vignettes, unboxing moments, ASMR textures, and day-in-the-life sequences
  • Keep shoots efficient, high-energy, and adaptable
  • Maintain TubeScience's quality, metadata, and compliance standards on every project

Requirements

  • 3–5+ years shooting or directing in fast-paced, digital-first environments (UGC, branded content, social, or creator economy ideal)
  • You've been a content creator yourself, or you've worked closely with creators and deeply understand the aesthetic, pacing, and energy of socially-native video
  • You have a portfolio that shows UGC-style work, B-roll storytelling, and/or lifestyle content — think creator reels, product content, and brand collabs, not just traditional commercial work
  • Fluent across camera systems (iPhone through cinema) and comfortable lighting for both polished and raw/authentic looks
  • Strong understanding of what performs on social platforms — you follow trends, you know the formats, and you think in hooks and retention
  • Strong communicator who can direct non-actors and influencers to deliver natural, engaging performances
  • Resourceful, organized, and fast-moving
  • Confident leading sets while keeping energy, collaboration, and creative momentum high

Preferred

  • You've built your own social following or have a content portfolio that shows real engagement and aesthetic range
  • Experience creating content across lifestyle categories (travel, fashion, beauty, wellness, food)
  • You've created content that drove measurable results — sales, sign-ups, engagement

Benefits

  • Health, Vision & Dental Coverage
  • 401(k) + Matching
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Life Insurance
  • Parental Leave
  • Paid Sick Days
  • And more!

As one of the fastest growing startups in Los Angeles, we're revolutionizing the way in which companies approach successful video advertising. Our team of award-winning Producers, Editors, Directors, Engineers, and Performance Marketing Managers are building a global studio where we can conceptualize, shoot, and produce hundreds of videos per day. Unlike traditional advertising agencies that pitch creative concepts for companies, hope they will perform, and outsource filming, we design videos that are guaranteed to convert. We use data to guide our creative process and leverage testing and analysis to make adjustments to react to users in real-time.What's atypical about the company:We're fast and data-driven: our teams develop concepts in the morning, shoot/edit in the afternoon, launch in the evening, and iterate the next day based on real-world performance. We’re a behavioral R&D lab at the core: We put 2,000+ video experiments per week, watched by tens of millions of people per day, that give us deep insights into how people make decisions. Over the past couple years, we’ve built an enormous library of IP around human behavior and visual communication. We work on a pure pay for performance basis. Zero production fees for video. Clients only pay us if our videos outperform anything they’re running internally.
