Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Own execution across key audience surfaces
  • Translate audience strategy into daily output across social platforms, video and presentation. Ensure consistency in tone, quality and performance
  • Lead three core teams
  • Social platforms: Oversee AP’s presence across platforms including Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and emerging channels. Set daily priorities, guide platform-specific storytelling and ensure we are meeting audiences where they are.
  • Video (on-platform and on-site): Drive the strategy and execution of social video and video on APNews.com. Ensure video is timely, distinctive and aligned with audience behavior across platforms.
  • Digital design and presentation: Lead the team responsible for infographics, visual storytelling and immersive formats. Raise the bar on how stories are packaged and experienced.
  • Identify and develop revenue opportunities: Work with product and revenue teams to identify ways audience growth can translate into revenue. This includes platform monetization, sponsorship opportunities, video packaging and new formats that drive both engagement and financial return.
  • Develop creator strategy and partnerships: Identify, recruit and work with creators to expand AP’s reach and storytelling. Build a clear approach to how creators contribute to AP’s journalism and audience growth across platforms.
  • Drive performance and accountability: Set clear expectations tied to audience KPIs such as reach, engagement, retention and contribution to revenue. Ensure teams understand what success looks like and adjust quickly when performance lags.
  • Establish repeatable workflows: Build systems that allow teams to operate with speed and clarity across time zones. Reduce friction between editorial, video, design and external partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Strong newsroom leadership experience across audience, video or digital formats
  • A track record of turning strategy into execution at scale
  • Experience identifying audience-driven revenue opportunities
  • Understanding of creator ecosystems and platform dynamics
  • Experience managing multiple teams with different skill sets
  • Ability to use data to guide decisions while maintaining editorial judgment
  • Clear communication style and strong decision-making instincts

Preferred

  • Experience leading social video strategy for a major publisher
  • Background in visual storytelling or digital presentation
  • Experience working in a global, 24/7 newsroom environment
