Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop digital ecosystem, channel, content and audience strategy for Mars corporate global channels (web + social + paid + search + audience strategy). Ensures the digital and social communications strategy and narrative that supports the Mars global reputation and trust-building strategies.
  • Lead a Corporate Affairs digital and social media team responsible for developing and executing digital, social media and paid storytelling activities to build and protect Mars corporate reputation. Team includes direct reports, contractors, a cross-functional team within Digital Technologies and multiple agencies.
  • Define and implement a mars.com digital product vision that aligns with business objectives. Includes the strategy and implementation for 34+ country websites.
  • Create collaborative partnerships across the business. Partner closely with Corporate Affairs colleagues in business units, markets and functional teams (e.g., global sustainability, global employer branding, global DE&I) to develop digital storytelling strategies that help further the Mars brand narrative.
  • Lead digital content and paid strategy for global reputation-building integrated campaigns that include integration with earned media and internal communications teams.
  • A key external team member supporting managing crisis and issues from a digital perspective, including potential geopolitical issues. May require monitoring, tracking and impact assessments on digital channels where applicable and providing recommendations on appropriate response/narrative and approach.
  • Lead the Mars global consumer care agency to track and monitor consumer contacts on Mars Global social media, reporting and the approach to engage/not engage.
  • Manage and measure work. Lead the Mars global digital communication measurement strategy, including research that will inform digital communications (e.g., brand lift studies and audience segmentation). Track and glean insights to help shape our overall External Communications reputation-building work.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in integrated marketing, digital communications, and corporate reputation communications at agencies or a global multi-national organization (preferred)
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline (e.g., Communications, Journalism, Digital Marketing, Integrated Marketing Communications, etc.) is preferred
  • Global experience in digital communications across multiple markets for corporate and / or consumer facing brands
  • Proficiency in corporate and digital communications and a good understanding of latest trends, digital platforms and marketing techniques
  • Strong business acumen and experience driving digital and social media campaigns in a fast-paced, global environment
  • Proven track record implementing paid social, paid search, and SEM strategies.
  • Understanding and experience in delivering integrated communications.
  • Experience in crisis and issues management, especially in digital and social media.
  • Expertise in establishing strategic measurement frameworks and leveraging insights to optimize and improve future communications.
  • Strong critical thinking, writing, editing, and budget management skills.
