Responsibilities

  • The Director of Communications will lead the University's strategic communications efforts across external, internal and marketing channels.
  • The position serves as the primary liaison to media outlets while overseeing internal communications and marketing content development.
  • This role will focus on building and maintaining relationships with journalists, identifying newsworthy stories, developing compelling messaging, and executing communication strategies that strengthen Lander University's reputation.
  • Responsibilities include earned media, executive and campus communications, website and newsletter content, email campaigns, and marketing materials that support institutional goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, English or a related field.
  • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in public relations, communications, media relations, journalism, marketing communications, or strategic communications.
  • Demonstrated success developing communication strategies and content for diverse audiences across multiple channels.
  • Exceptional writing, editing and storytelling skills across digital, print and web platforms.
  • Experience managing multiple projects, priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong customer service skills and a commitment to ethical communication practices.
  • Valid driver's license and safe driving history are required.
