Job Summary

Own the external communications and policy advocacy narrative for a national pipeline trade group, aligning media, digital content, and Hill briefings with industry positions.

  • Policy & Communications Ownership: shape advocacy content for digital audiences and government-facing channels; manage public outlets and executive communications.
  • Media & Stakeholder Outreach: lead proactive media engagement and cross-organization collaboration to advance INGAA and Foundation messaging.
  • Governance & Content Ops: supervise committees, secretary duties for the Foundation board, and ensure clear, publish-ready materials for regulatory and legislative positions.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Develops familiarity with the interstate natural gas pipeline industry and INGAA positions on legislative and regulatory issues.
  • Plans and executes public communications programs to convey pipeline industry positions to related industry groups, media, member companies, government and the public.
  • Proactively engages with the media to advance the INGAA and INGAA Foundation mission.
  • In coordination with INGAA subject matter experts, leads the development of advocacy content for digital audiences and for use on Capitol Hill and with executive branch agencies around key policy areas.
  • Manages the Communications Committee and the INGAA Foundation’s Outreach, Workforce, and Leadership Committee, coordinating with member company chairs and advancing collaboration among members.
  • Primary responsibility for content and management of INGAA and The INGAA Foundation’s public facing digital outlets, including the website and social channels (Twitter/X, LinkedIn, YouTube, Facebook).
  • Prepares summary materials for INGAA Foundation studies and develops/implements strategies for public release of these materials.
  • Serves as Secretary to the INGAA Foundation Board of Directors, supporting governance, records, materials, and follow-up on board actions.
  • Assists in developing analyses and materials to support legislative and regulatory positions through original research, surveys and analysis.
  • Reviews regulatory comments, legislative testimony, advocacy material and other documents for clarity and public consumption.

Requirements

  • College degree in communications, marketing or related discipline.
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of communications, public relations or related experience in a congressional office, federal agency, trade association, public affairs firm, or policy-focused communications role.
  • Experience with natural gas pipeline regulation or FERC is a plus.
  • Must have experience managing digital content.
  • Experience managing grassroots outreach programs preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills and copy editing abilities.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of communications technologies and social media platforms.
  • Experience with search engine marketing, Google Analytics, and Google AdWords.
  • Familiarity with social media marketing and content management systems, HTML, coding, and digital marketing; familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud like Photoshop and InDesign.
  • Travel up to 20% for meetings, conferences, and other business-related events; may include weekends.

  • Experience managing grassroots outreach programs preferred.
