Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Capture high-quality photography and video that showcase Plymouth State University’s academic programs, students, faculty, campus life, and community partnerships.
  • Source and develop story ideas that highlight institutional priorities including recruitment, enrollment, student success, and alumni engagement.
  • Produce short-form and long-form video content optimized for digital platforms including social media and web channels.
  • Maintain and organize a centralized digital media library of photography and video assets.
  • Develop and manage digital storytelling across University social media platforms to increase visibility, engagement, and audience reach.
  • Create engaging social media content aligned with institutional communications and marketing priorities.
  • Adapt content to align with evolving social media trends and platform best practices.
  • Write and produce digital content including feature stories for the website news page, press releases, and articles for the University’s online magazine.
  • Collaborate with campus partners to identify and develop compelling stories highlighting academic programs, faculty expertise, and student achievements.
  • Analyze social media performance and digital engagement using platform analytics and GA4.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, digital media, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in digital content creation including photography, videography, social media content development, and digital storytelling.
  • Experience writing digital content for institutional or organizational communications.
  • Proficiency in professional editing software including Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop, and PremierePro.
  • Ability to create engaging digital content for social media platforms.
  • Knowledge of social media content trends and platform best practices.
  • Strong writing and editing skills for digital communications.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced communications environment.
  • Ability to collaborate with faculty, staff, students, and external partners to identify and develop stories.
  • Experience using analytics tools to evaluate content performance.

Preferred

  • Experience producing digital content in a higher education or mission-driven organization.
  • Drone experience.
  • Experience managing social media content planning tools such as Loomly, Later, or Hootsuite.
  • Experience producing short-form vertical video for platforms such as Instagram Reels, TikTok, or YouTube Shorts.
  • Familiarity with digital asset management systems.
