Job Description

Responsibilities

  • In consultation with PETA and in verified compliance with the objectives, standards, and requirements communicated by it:
  • Research, write, edit, publish, and maintain compelling content covering investigations, campaigns, breaking news, and other animal rights issues
  • Translate complex investigative findings, evidence, research, and data into clear, accurate, persuasive stories that engage audiences and inspire action
  • Ensure all content meets the highest standards of accuracy, quality, readability, and editorial excellence through rigorous research and fact-checking
  • Publish and maintain content across PETA websites using WordPress and other digital publishing tools, ensuring exceptional user experience, functionality, accessibility, and presentation
  • Apply SEO, GEO, and other digital content optimization best practices to maximize visibility, engagement, and impact
  • Monitor content performance using Google Analytics and other reporting tools and make recommendations based on findings
  • Manage multiple overlapping projects, priorities, and deadlines at once
  • Track project timelines, deliverables, approvals, and launch requirements to ensure the successful execution of high-priority initiatives
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure content is strategically aligned and delivered on schedule

Requirements

  • College degree in journalism, communications, marketing, digital media, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum two years of experience creating and publishing digital content in a newsroom, media, nonprofit, advocacy, marketing, or comparable fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional writing, editing, proofreading, research, and fact-checking skills with a demonstrated commitment to accuracy and credibility
  • Proven ability to transform complex subjects, technical information, research findings, and data into engaging content that is accessible, persuasive, and action-oriented
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, shifting priorities, and overlapping deadlines while maintaining exceptional accuracy and attention to detail
  • Experience publishing content through WordPress or other content management systems
  • Experience analyzing content performance using Google Analytics and/or other reporting tools and using insights to inform strategy
  • Experience using Photoshop, Canva, or similar image-editing software
  • Strong understanding of SEO, GEO, and other digital publishing best practices
  • Demonstrated proficiency using AI tools and enthusiasm for leveraging emerging technologies to improve content creation, workflow efficiency, and audience engagement
