Job Description

Responsibilities

  • The Content Marketer uses analytical skills and strategic planning to independently create and implement strategic communications plans for a wide variety of graduate business degree programs with the goal of identifying target audiences and crafting a plan to reach that audience and persuade them to consider and ultimately enroll in a Rady School of Management degree program.
  • The position is a writer and storyteller, executing integrated written and visual content strategies that strengthen the Rady School’s visibility and reputation across diverse audiences including prospective students, current students, alumni, academic and business leaders.
  • The position ensures all messaging reflects the Rady School’s mission, vision, and brand positioning.
  • The position interprets trends, conducts data analysis, and conducts research on the efficacy and cost/benefit of a variety of communication strategies and creates and initiates communication strategies in alignment with Rady School goals.
  • The position conducts interviews with alumni, faculty, and students independently identifying a theme that will resonate with targeted audiences.
  • This position also proposes, creates, and edits written content (and some graphics) across multiple channels including social media, newsletters, video, blog, website, and email journeys to help achieve key marketing and communication goals.
  • The position requires exceptional writing, storytelling, and project management skills, as well as the ability to translate complex information into compelling, audience-centered communications and visuals that reflect the Rady School’s brand voice.
  • - This position has a hybrid work schedule with 2 days/week on campus and 3 days remote. Occasional evenings and weekends may be required (rare).

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of professional writing experience in content marketing, digital communications, or related role within higher education, corporate, or nonprofit environments.
  • Exceptional writing, storytelling, and project management skills, as well as the ability to translate complex information into compelling, audience-centered communications and visuals.
  • Editing experience.
  • Familiarity with AP style.
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, literature or related field with a writing focus, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience developing, creating, and adapting content re: multiple platforms including social media, websites, blogs, email newsletters and drip campaigns.
  • Knowledge of branding principles and experience maintaining consistency across channels.
  • Knowledge of all aspects of communications, including strategic planning for various media venues, technical aspects and requirements of various venues, and most appropriate and effective applications.
  • Experience developing strategic content aligned with an organizational brand as well as meeting marketing/sales/lead generation goals for distinct audiences.
  • Experience creating communication campaigns linked to a measurable goal.

  • Knowledge of the organization, its achievements, mission, vision, goals, policies, practices, infrastructure, and a strong knowledge of current affairs, and issues in higher education and / or health sciences.
  • Understanding of UC San Diego brand, communication protocols and channels.
  • Experience in the educational field
