Job Summary

Own district wide communications with political sense and two way engagement; manage and improve web, social, and publications while aligning messaging with strategy and emergency plans.

  • Own OCSD web and social platforms, ensure content quality and emergency communications readiness.
  • Lead district publications and publicity to build transparency and support outreach goals.

Job Description

Responsibilities
  • Implement the District's strategic communications plan in alignment with OCSD policies and goals, using best practices to establish and enhance two-way communication with staff, media, families, and the community.
  • Provide strategic leadership to ensure that the District's public policy agenda and communications strategies inform and align with OCSD's strategic objectives.
  • Maintain the District website and all social media accounts.
  • Manage and ensure continuous improvement of OCSD website and content.
  • Develop and oversee social media platforms and content to facilitate District branding and communication activities.
  • Provide support to schools for maintaining their school websites, as needed.
  • Coordinate with the Superintendent or designee around emergency communications; maintain protocols and provide guidance for staff on using communications systems for emergency notifications.
  • Provide marketing materials and publicity for all District programs and services; work closely with departments to promote and publicize OCSD.
  • Oversee production and ensure accuracy of school district publications with the purpose of building transparency and trust, advancing the District's goals, communicating values, and engaging its diverse constituencies.
  • Ensure accuracy, timeliness, appropriateness, and standardization of all OCSD publications and materials.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field.
  • Formal training and certification in website and communications design or a related field.
  • Recent experience in public relations, communications, web design and electronic media; must include experience developing and managing electronic and print media.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
  • Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, layout, and design skills; proven ability to present concepts verbally and produce accurate written/print materials for various purposes and audiences.
  • Experience with and demonstrated ability to utilize multiple social media platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise judgment, integrity, confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Valid Oregon driver's license and access to a vehicle during work hours.
  • Successful completion of criminal history records check.
