Job Summary

Own on-site executive logistics and content support for the Provost, coordinating with University Communications and Marketing and cross-unit partners to ensure flawless public appearances and a strong social/digital footprint.

  • Logistics ownership: manage event details, scheduling, and weekend/evening engagements with the Provost and affiliate offices.
  • Content and social: draft remarks, video/scripts, briefing materials, photos/videos, and maintain the social calendar.
  • Platform support: assist Provost websites and collaborate across the Office of the Provost and affiliate units for general coverage.

Job Description

Responsibilities
  • Under the direction of the Director of Executive Communications and the executive leadership team of the Office of the Provost, the Communications Specialist assists the Provost with logistical arrangements for speaking engagements and other public appearances, both on and off campus.
  • The Communications Specialist will work in close partnership with University Communications and Marketing and the Office of the Provost.
  • The Communications Specialist accompanies the Provost to events to provide on-site support and adherence to scheduling needs, including occasional weekend and evening engagements.
  • The Communications Specialist provides photo and video coverage of Provost engagements and produces social media content, maintaining a robust social media presence and content calendar.
  • The Communications Specialist also contributes to the development of remarks, personal notes, video scripts, reports, presentations, articles, briefing materials, factsheets, and web content.
  • The Communications Specialist will also provide support for Provost’s Office websites and platforms.
  • In addition, the Communications Specialist will work with the Office of the Provost and its affiliate units for general support as needed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
  • Demonstrated communications experience.
  • Strong organizational capabilities and experience in creating operational plans with demonstrated abilities for managing all details of public and private events.
  • Experience writing for mass audiences.
Preferred
  • Proficiency in WordPress is preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of a higher education environment and audiences.
