Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Planning, creating, and publishing engaging social media content for the SCC’s consumer education and public awareness initiatives.
  • Designing and producing graphics and visual assets for use across social media and other digital communication channels.
  • Editing and producing short- and long-form videos optimized for social media platforms.
  • Monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on social media performance metrics to identify trends and recommend content improvements.
  • Researching, verifying, and translating complex regulatory and technical information into clear, consumer-friendly communications.
  • Developing and maintaining consistent brand voice, tone, and visual identity across social media and other external communication channels.
  • Assisting with creating content for external SCC communications.
  • Developing and maintaining consumer education materials such as news releases, newsletters, web and blog-style content, flyers, promotional pamphlets, brochures, booklets, and other communication materials.
  • Maintaining the SCC’s brand standards across all communication platforms.
  • Assisting with coordination of outreach to news media and the public.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, communications, or related field is a minimum qualification without related experience.

Preferred

  • Professional experience planning, developing, and implementing social media content and/or creating related communications and materials.
  • A bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, communications, or related field is a minimum qualification without related experience.
  • Familiarity with editing video content and creating graphics and visual content for social media and other digital platforms.
  • Familiarity with design programs such as Canva, CapCut, Adobe Premier Pro, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, etc.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic understanding of earned media principles.
  • Understanding of visual hierarchy and layout.
  • Ability to develop creative, audience-focused communications and content across multiple channels.
  • Ability to translate complex topics into clear, consumer-friendly language.
  • Ability to use captioning and accessibility best practices.
