Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Manage media relations, including drafting press releases, responding to inquiries, and building relationships with journalists.
  • Create visually engaging graphics for marketing and outreach materials, including website banners, social media posts, brochures, flyers, and presentations.
  • Plan and coordinate internal and external events, including logistics, promotion, and post-event evaluation.
  • Coordinate with vendors and event staff to ensure successful execution of events.
  • Design, develop, and maintain the organization’s website (Wordpress) to ensure it is user-friendly, informative, and aligned with GVSUD’s brand.
  • Manage website content updates, ensuring accuracy, relevance, and timeliness.
  • Monitor website analytics and identify opportunities for improvement in user experience and engagement.
  • Design and deliver educational initiatives for community groups (HOAs), and schools to promote awareness and engagement.
  • Oversee the organization’s social media presence, including content creation, audience engagement, and performance analysis.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including community members, Chambers of Commerce, and government entities staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (preferred).
  • 5 years of relevant communications and stakeholder engagement experience.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office Suite, Adobe Suite, WordPress, and social media platforms.
  • Valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (press releases, content creation, presentations).
  • Strong interpersonal, relationship-building, and social media management skills.
  • Think critically and creatively, adapt to change, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Event planning, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Attention to detail, *teamwork*, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Familiarity with social media, website management, and graphic design software.
