Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Long-Form Content: Research, interview subject matter experts, and write all long-form editorial pieces, including News & Insights articles and Edge leadership commentary.
  • Annual Reports: Lead the content development and narrative arc for the AANEM and ANF Annual Reports, synthesizing departmental achievements into a cohesive brand story.
  • Clinical Translation: Work closely with the Education and Policy departments to ensure clinical accuracy while maintaining a tone that is accessible and engaging for the broader membership.
  • Email Ownership: Act as the primary architect for the association’s email communications. This includes drafting, designing (using templates), and deploying all newsletters, promotional blasts, and member alerts.
  • Segmentation & Strategy: Utilize HubSpot to manage member lists and segment audiences, ensuring the right message reaches the right member at the right time.
  • Campaign Logic: Partner with the Director to develop the voice of automated email journeys, ensuring that the written copy remains human and brand-aligned within automated workflows.
  • Leadership Support: Draft official statements, high-level corporate scripts, and speeches for organizational leadership and board members.
  • Internal Culture: Manage internal communications to ensure staff alignment with organizational goals, drafting internal newsletters or updates that bridge the gap between departments.
  • Public Relations: Support media relations by drafting press releases, maintaining media hitlists, and cultivating relationships with industry trade publications and representatives.
  • CMS Oversight: Act as the primary manager for the Sitefinity platform, ensuring all web copy, calendars, and resource pages are accurate, timely, and functional.
  • On-page SEO Optimization: Apply best practices for search engine optimization to all web content to increase the visibility of AANEM/ANF clinical resources.
  • User Journey Alignment: Ensure that the transition from an email or social post to the website content is seamless in both tone and visual flow.
  • Review Workflows: Establish and manage a rigorous review process with clinical and policy leads to ensure all external-facing copy meets the highest standards of professional and legal accuracy.
  • Advocacy Communication: Translate complex legislative and policy updates into 'call-to-action' content that empowers members to engage with the association’s advocacy efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Journalism, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of professional writing experience.
  • Experience in a medical association, healthcare setting, or a highly regulated industry is strongly preferred.
  • CMS: Proven experience managing content within an enterprise-grade CMS (Sitefinity, Adobe Experience Manager, or similar).
  • Marketing Automation: Proficiency in HubSpot (specifically the Email Marketing and Marketing Hub tools) is preferred.
  • Editorial Tools: Mastery of AP Style and professional editing software.
  • Portfolio: Must demonstrate the ability to write for different audiences—ranging from technical clinical summaries to high-level executive statements.
