  • Cross-Functional Projects: Lead multi-department content programs from concept through publication, including calendars, approvals, and vendor coordination.

Responsibilities

  • The Communications and Social Media Manager reports to the Marketing and Communications Director and is responsible for developing, managing, and executing strategic communications, digital content, social media, and public-facing messaging that advances the Museum’s mission, exhibitions, programs, visitor engagement, marketing and brand identity.
  • Join us in this key role as a part of our Marketing and Communication team.
  • While working in an environment full of inspiration and creative talent, the Communications and Social Media Manager will develop and manage the Museum’s social media and digital platforms, including writing, editing and content development and strategy, and engage in building our audiences.
  • Your promotion, editorial calendars, listings and generated media coverage of exhibitions and events and preparation of press materials to local and national media will extend inspirational opportunities and culture into the art and education communities locally and beyond
  • Working aside the Director of Marketing and Communication, this critical position develops marketing materials including bi-weekly print and radio ads, video content, membership communications, quarterly newsletters, bi-weekly eblasts, social media initiatives, and provides essential content to our website ; maintain and evolve the Museum’s institutional voice across digital, print, media and social platforms.
  • Responsibilities include strategic development, management, and content development for digital initiatives, including social media platforms, paid digital advertising, Google adwords, etc.; providing a proactive role in writing and reviewing website content and updating as necessary; drafting and distributing listings of exhibitions and events to local and national media contacts; maintaining and updating local and national media contact list; tracking and maintaining press coverage archives; drafting, proofing and editing of press releases and other press materials; obtaining estimates and coordinating with vendors as needed. This position assists in the development of other marketing materials, including membership communications and quarterly newsletter, along with general administrative support. The Manager plays an integral role in cross-departmental project management by independently managing multiple communications projects from concept through completion, including timelines, content drafts, approvals and publication.

Requirements

  • BA degree required
  • 5-7 years of digital/social media, and public relations and/or marketing experience
  • Prior successful experience with digital communication tools (email campaigns, online calendars, social media scheduling software (Zoho, etc.), PR tracking/coverage (Cision, etc.), digital media creation (Canva), MS Office Suite, Photoshop, etc.)
  • Must have experience with management, content development, and execution of social media initiatives, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Tik Tok, Google, etc.
  • Requires excellent personal and organizational skills, strong ability to multi-task, while utilizing excellent communication, public relations, and written communication skills.
