Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Develop and Execute Communications Strategy
  • Create and execute CFK's communication plan.
  • Increase awareness of CFK’s impact among donors, partners, volunteers, stakeholders, and the informal settlement communities we serve.
  • Manage and maintain brand assets, ensuring they are current, accessible, and consistently used in accordance with brand standards.
  • Translate program outcomes and data into engaging, donor-focused content.
  • Coordinate Press and PR, working with an external consultant and in collaboration with Kenya staff.
  • Storytelling & Content Development
  • Gather and develop compelling stories, testimonials, and impact narratives from youth participants, community leaders, staff, and partners.
  • Write, design, and edit high-quality content, including annual reports, impact reports, donor communications, newsletters, website content, blog articles, press releases, executive communications, white papers, concept notes, fundraising materials, presentations, and sponsorship proposals.
  • Produce videos in collaboration with Kenya staff that highlight CFK’s history, vision, and work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of full-time work experience, preferably in a communications, public relations, journalism and/or non-profit development role.
  • Excellent writing and copyediting skills, and a general passion for telling good stories.
  • Experience with producing grants, especially in fields such as education, workforce development and girls’ advocacy.
  • Ability and desire to work with diverse groups.
  • Commitment to CFK Africa’s missions and values.
  • Experience with graphic design software and a desire to create (e.g., Canva, Adobe Express).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint; Familiarity with Google environments.
  • Experience with email marketing and automation platforms (MailChimp experience a plus).
  • Ability and desire to travel both domestically and internationally (must have a valid U.S. passport upon hire).
