Job Summary

Own the nonprofit mental health communications program by shaping leadership messaging, building media relationships, and driving brand-consistent storytelling across press, social, and digital channels.

  • Media Relations & Messaging: Collaborate with leadership to craft compelling narratives and handle inquiries, interviews, and press events.
  • Content & Social Strategy: Create engaging content and manage across platforms to promote programs, events, and fundraising.
  • Editorial & Brand Governance: Maintain calendars, ensure trauma-informed language, and preserve a consistent brand across all touchpoints.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive communications and marketing plan that supports organizational goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with the President/CEO and leadership team to create messaging that promotes MHACF
  • Serve as the primary contact for media inquiries and coordinate interviews, press conferences, and media opportunities.
  • Draft and distribute press releases programs, services, advocacy efforts, and community impact.
  • Ensure consistency in organizational branding, messaging, and visual identity across all platforms.
  • Identify opportunities to increase public awareness of mental health issues and MHACF's role in the community.
  • Draft and distribute press releases, media advisories, statements, and public announcements.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local, regional, and statewide media outlets.
  • Monitor media coverage and public perception of the organization.
  • Develop and manage social media strategies across multiple platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and other emerging channels.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, Nonprofit Management, or a related field required.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in communications, public relations, marketing, or related field.
  • Nonprofit experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing social media platforms, digital marketing campaigns, and public relations initiatives.
  • Experience with event promotion and fundraising communications preferred.

Preferred

  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Graphic design experience using Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar platforms preferred
  • Knowledge of branding, public relations, media relations, and digital marketing strategies
  • Experience with video production or photography for events could be a plus
