Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Assist with social media content for platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and Youtube
  • Help brainstorm, film, and edit short-form videos, including approaching staff to participate
  • Proofread and edit promotional materials for clarity, tone, and accuracy
  • Write blog posts and short promotional content highlighting library programs and services
  • Help support special events, exhibits, and opening nights
  • Assist with larger events or exhibits, including event and exhibit support
  • Collaborate with staff across departments to gather stories and content

Requirements

  • Strong writing skills and attention to detail
  • Comfortable communicating with staff and the public
  • Comfortable being both in front of the camera and behind the scenes.
  • Interest in communications, marketing, social media, journalism, or related fields
  • Creative, curious, and willing to learn
  • Reliable and able to manage multiple tasks
  • A genuine interest in libraries and the Joliet community
  • Schedule & Flexibility
  • 15-20 hours per week
  • Flexible scheduling to accommodate class commitments
  • Occasional evenings or weekends required for special events
  • This internship is eligible for college credit, depending on the student's academic program. The Joliet Public Library is happy to work with students and faculty advisors to complete required documentation and evaluations.
