Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Communications
  • Develop and execute communications strategy aligned with REBUILD.US ’s organizational priorities, theory of change, brand and narrative strategies.
  • Hold a bird's-eye view of the organization and an in-depth understanding of our main interventions and our brand and narrative strategies, and translate that into a clear, cohesive, and actionable communications plan.
  • Develop communications strategies for both rapid-response climate disaster moments and long-term “blue sky” periods.
  • Ensure communications effectively advance REBUILD.US ’s organizing, fundraising, advocacy, and brand-building goals.
  • Introduce a lean-startup discipline to the organization by defining core value hypotheses, conducting quick and routine testing, and remaining nimble to adjust workflows.
  • Team, Partner and Vendor Management
  • Manage the communications function — staff, strategy partners, vendors alike — setting day-to-day priorities.
  • Translate long-term strategy into day-to-day priorities and establish clear systems, workflows, and expectations with staff, consultants, and vendors.
  • Maintain systems and workflows and track projects across multiple partners, vendors, and teams; and ensure the program is advancing our short- and long-term strategies.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in senior communications, editorial, or narrative strategy roles.
  • A track record of building and leading high-performing communications teams that span disciplines — digital, brand, media relations, and content.
  • 2+ years of experience supervising direct reports.
  • Proven ability to translate organizational and narrative strategy into editorial output that shifts public attitudes, media coverage, or policy outcomes.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills with experience crafting communication and narrative materials that hold a distinct point of view and mass, popular appeal.
  • Comfort operating at strategic and tactical levels -- big-picture strategy and hands-on drafting and editing.
  • Deep commitment to disaster-impacted communities and to a survivor-centered, justice-oriented approach to recovery; direct experience with climate disaster response, organizing, or survivor communities is a strong plus.
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills across a wide range of stakeholders: staff, media, funders, movement partners, and survivors.
  • Experience working with membership-based organizations (including labor unions, community organizations)
  • Insight into what makes content land in a fractured, high-pressure media environment—and how to turn attention into action.

Benefits

  • Generous benefits package includes 100% employer-paid health insurance (medical, dental, and vision), 401k match, PTO and leave policies, professional development funds, and remote work stipend.

Assets Under Movement

Assets Under Movement (AUM+) is a 501(c)(3) public charity and mission-driven Donor-Advised Fund platform combining best-in-class fund administration with people-centered client service — enabling donors, advisors, and institutions to give strategically, efficiently, and with purpose. Where "assets under management" captures wealth for the few, assets under movement deploys capital to build democratic resilience and economic opportunity. Wealth is concentrating, democracy is under attack, and single-stream funding isn't enough. AUM+ was purpose-built for this moment — the only national philanthropic platform rooted in the labor movement and a resource engine connecting capital to social movements at scale, at the speed urgency demands. We measure our impact by the capital we activate. Partners join a community of like-minded individuals, institutions, and advisors who trust our innovative solutions to activate their capital. This is the modern capital infrastructure democracy now demands.
