Job Summary

Own and lead the organization\'s communications strategy and execution, including media relations, crisis planning, executive messaging, and vendor management.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Lead media relations, media tracking, and reporter engagement.
  • Develop talking points and messaging for the leadership team and designated spokespeople.
  • Own crisis communications planning and response.
  • Lead messaging for economic development announcements in coordination with external PR partners.
  • Draft and approve press releases, official statements, and media quotes.
  • Write scripts and create presentations for Signature Events and Board of Governors meetings.
  • Provide editorial guidance and final review for Innovate Pikes Peak and Pikes Peak Housing Network communications.
  • Oversee internal communications and stakeholder messaging.
  • Establish and enforce message alignment and brand voice guardrails across the organization.
  • Provide direct supervision, guidance, coaching, and performance management for the Marketing Manager, including establishing priorities, assigning and reviewing work, supporting professional development, and ensuring alignment with organizational goals and brand standards. Support in directing the work of department staff, contract professionals and vendors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing or related field is required.
  • Five years’ experience in a senior communications role with similar responsibilities.
  • Accredited in public relations (APR) or advanced degree a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience and leadership in managing comprehensive strategic marketing and communications.
  • Demonstrated skill and comfort in proactively building relationships with diverse audiences and stakeholders at various levels of leadership and influence.
  • Innovative thinker, with a track record for translating strategic thinking into action plans and output.
  • Excellent judgement and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to make decisions in a changing environment and anticipate future needs.
  • Energetic, flexible, collaborative and proactive; a team leader who can positively and productively impact both strategy and tactics.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as extraordinary attention to detail.

Preferred

  • Accredited in public relations (APR) or advanced degree a plus.
