Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Creating and editing graphics for use in internal and external flyers, brochures, events, etc.
  • This is a highly responsible, professional position that provides support to the Public Information Officer.
  • Drafting written communication for social media, aiding with managing external affairs and outreach initiatives as necessary, providing assistance in updating the city’s intranet and external website.
  • Work with the PIO and Strategic Initiatives Director to craft, develop, and implement a Communications Plan to advance the city’s brand identity, broaden awareness, and increase the visibility of the city’s mission, programs, and priorities across key stakeholder audiences.
  • Working on special projects as assigned by the PIO, including campaigns, partnerships, content creation, etc.; brainstorming, planning and executing internal and external events, including town halls, citizens academy, etc.; facilitating partnerships with large groups/organizations to maximize outreach and reinforce goals/initiatives.
  • Assisting with answering public calls, gathering information, preparing reports, and daily administrative activities as necessary.
  • Track and report content effectiveness metrics to PIO, as well as continually monitor, analyze, and tune messaging to maximize impact.
  • Assist PIO with development of strategy and plans for proactive and reactive communications related to media and the city’s social media channels, including drafting written communication materials; aiding with outreach initiatives as necessary, including writing speeches for individuals representing the city.
  • Assist PIO with overall communications efforts and goals of city.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required

Preferred

  • Bachelors in Communications/Marketing/Graphic Design or other related fields preferred (Associates/Work experience welcome)
  • Foundation in photography and videography to create and edit high-quality visual content.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, primarily Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, Acrobat, Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Lightroom, and Illustrator/InDesign.
  • Proficient in social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
  • Proficient in Canva Pro.
  • Experience in the design and layout of flyers, brochures, and guidebooks.
