Job Summary

Own MON’s external communications by coordinating multi‑channel content, upholding the liberatory voice, and delivering mission-aligned messaging for advocacy, fundraising, and policy impact.

  • Publish and engage across Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, and Bluesky using a monthly calendar and consistent tone.
  • Write newsletters, direct mail, ED talking points, op-eds, and fundraising materials to support visibility and donor stewardship.
  • Coordinate with legal/policy teams to ensure accurate, mission-aligned statements and provide monthly performance insights.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Draft and schedule social media content across Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, and Bluesky following an approved monthly content calendar
  • Write newsletters, direct mail, and organizational announcements
  • Support production of ED thought leadership content including talking points, op-eds, and public statements
  • Maintain MON’s organizational voice across all channels with consistency and fidelity to our liberatory framework
  • Manage day-to-day publishing, scheduling, and community engagement across all active platforms
  • Monitor comments, messages, and mentions; escalate sensitive issues to the ED same business day
  • Produce and edit short-form video and Reels using MON-provided footage
  • Deliver monthly analytics reports with performance data and key takeaways
  • Support content development for fundraising campaigns and donor stewardship materials
  • Assist with press releases, media list maintenance, and earned media coordination

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of experience in communications, content creation, social media, or a related field
  • Strong writing skills with ability to adapt tone and format across platforms and audiences
  • Experience managing social media platforms in a professional or organizational setting
  • Proficiency in Canva or similar design tools and social media scheduling platforms
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage deadlines independently
  • Deep alignment with MON’s mission and liberatory framework
  • Experience in nonprofit, advocacy, or policy communications a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English, or a related field preferred — equivalent professional experience considered
  • DC community ties preferred
