Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Execution of a comprehensive content strategy focused on digital channels, particularly for the website and its content bank, that supports the College’s mission and strategic priorities.
  • The manager is responsible for writing, shooting, and editing videos; print and/or digital faculty, student, and alumni profiles; informational web content; and marketing materials that showcase the College’s faculty, students, academic and research strengths, and community impact.
  • Supports communication efforts that foster recognition and connection among faculty, staff, and students.
  • Externally, work with university communications, helping to amplify the College’s visibility and reputation.
  • Closely collaborate with academic departments, development and alumni relations, the office of information technology, student academic services, government relations, and student ambassadors to ensure content messaging is aligned, timely, and effective.
  • Work with department heads, school and institute director, and individual faculty to ensure they are supported and represented.
  • Work with vendors/agency partners as needed.
  • Present to various stakeholders as necessary
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent
  • 8 years of professional experience

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, English, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • 5+ years professional experience in communications, content creation, or related field.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, academic environment.
  • Strong understanding of audience segmentation and comprehensive communication practices.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with a range of communications principles including messaging, writing, editing, graphic design, visual communications, branding, marketing, advertising, electronic communications, social media, and generative AI tools.
  • Ability to communicate technical content to a general audience and a variety of stakeholders.
  • Experience working with business/industry, alumni engagement, and development initiatives.
  • Experience in a higher education, independent school, or nonprofit environment.
  • Strong skills using technology in the workplace, familiarity with content management systems and email platforms; social media competencies.
  • Significant prior communications experience writing and producing publications and developing and placing stories.
