Job Summary
Owns and drives multi-channel communications for the Mechanical Engineering department, including content creation, social media, newsletters, and brand consistency, in collaboration with the Web Manager and the Digital Strategy group.
- Manages content across internal/external channels and maintains brand guidelines.
- Coordinates with the Communications Manager and Digital Strategy group to ensure timely delivery and audience-appropriate messaging.

Responsibilities
- COMMUNICATIONS ADMINISTRATOR, Mechanical Engineering, contributes to and implements the Department of Mechanical Engineering’s multi-channel communications strategy including ongoing maintenance of digital communication channels.
- This role carries significant responsibility for content creation, social media management, internal and external e-newsletter production, internal communications, and brand consistency working with limited supervision from the Communications Manager.
- The position will collaborate with the Web Manager and Senior Producer/Creative Lead to ensure timely and accurate delivery of digital content and will contribute to the coordinated work of the Digital Strategy group.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in communications, English, journalism, marketing, or related field
- minimum of three years' experience in communications, marketing, or a closely related role
- strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with demonstrated ability to adapt tone and style for different audiences and channels
- experience with social media content creation, scheduling tools, and analytics platforms
- experience with email marketing platforms such as Mailchimp or Salesforce Marketing Cloud
- demonstrated design skills and proficiency with editing and design tools like Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, or Canva
- experience with web content management systems like WordPress or Drupal
- interest in understanding and implementing AI-based workflows, with appropriate safeguards/transparency, for content creation, platform engagement, and work process management
- strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail
- ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Preferred
- Experience working in an academic or research environment with a focus on engineering and technology
- experience with HTML and CSS
- photography or video production experience
- familiarity with accessibility standards for digital content (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines)
- experience with SEO best practices
