Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary athletic communications contact for assigned varsity sports.
  • Write and distribute press releases, recaps, feature stories, and student-athlete spotlights.
  • Maintain accurate and timely information on the athletics website, including schedules, rosters, biographies, statistics, and records.
  • Compile, verify, and report statistics in accordance with NCAA, East Coast Conference, and institutional standards.
  • Coordinate live statistics, livestream support, and game-day media operations for assigned home contests.
  • Create engaging content for departmental social media platforms, including graphics, photography, short-form video, and promotional campaigns.
  • Assist with photography and videography at athletic events, media days, and special functions.
  • Nominate student-athletes and coaches for conference, regional, and national awards.
  • Coordinate media requests and serve as a liaison between coaches, student-athletes, and local or regional media outlets.
  • Assist with the production of publications, digital programs, recruiting materials, and other promotional pieces.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in related area and experience preferably in communications, sports journalism, media relations, or related field.
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Minimum of 2 years working in a collegiate athletics environment.
  • Strong understanding and enthusiasm for sports as well as a familiarity with NCAA and NCAA statistics rules for various sports.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with other staff members, coaches, student-athletes, members of the media, and the public.
  • Ability to accept a flexible work schedule that includes nights and weekends.
  • Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays when necessary.
  • Ability to travel when necessary

Preferred

  • Experience in NCAA Division II athletics.
  • Experience supervising student employees or interns
  • Experience with the Adobe Creative Suite (including InDesign, Photoshop, etc.)
  • Proficiency in NCAA Live States or Presto Stats
