Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Oversee a comprehensive marketing program for UC San Diego Division of Extended Studies with moderately complex marketing requirements.
  • Design, direct, and implement marketing strategies to build awareness, drive enrollment, and support revenue goals.
  • Supervise a marketing team in the planning, development, and execution of marketing initiatives and stakeholder engagement efforts.
  • Provide the full range of marketing services under the direction of the Director of Marketing and Communications.
  • Develop and direct marketing strategies in coordination with DES leadership, Digital Services, and Communication and in sync with campus brand standards and DES-wide goals.
  • Has supervisory oversight for marketing team members in delivering campaign strategy, content development, stakeholder collaboration, and branding guidance.
  • Provide leadership in workload planning, performance management, professional development, and continuous improvement of marketing operations and outcomes.
  • Creates and implements strategic marketing plans that support division-wide and program-specific goals across multiple channels, platforms, and audiences.
  • Performs a wide range of higher-level duties including marketing strategy development, campaign planning and prioritization, data analysis and performance reporting, stakeholder consultation, and optimization of marketing initiatives.
  • While continuing to contribute directly to campaign development and execution, the Assistant Director exercises a higher level of decision-making authority regarding marketing approaches, timelines, and investment of resources.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of communication principles, media, and marketing techniques.
  • Strong project management skills. Proven ability to establish and articulate project scope, strategy and objectives to internal clients, production team, and key leadership.
  • Solid experience with all aspects of projects, including: meeting deadlines, time management, contingency planning, approval channels and procedures, budgeting, campaign analysis, and tracking / monitoring procedures.
  • Demonstrated experience and skill in using website content management tools and project management programs.
  • Demonstrated experience working with Kentico CMS and Basecamp is a plus.
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple concurrent campaigns for various clients, ensuring consistent communication, timely delivery, and the exceeding of client expectations.
  • Thorough analytical and written communication skills. Proficiency in adapting communication styles to various mediums including in-person interactions, email, and virtual platforms, to ensure clear and impactful communication across channels inlcuding proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Skills in marketing campaign tracking and performance measurement, employing tools and marketing automation platforms (e.g., CRMs) to assess ROI, analyze customer journeys, and make data-informed decisions.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and political acumen skills. Strong relationship-building abilities, fostering positive connections with diverse audiences and stakeholders to facilitate effective communication and collaboration.

  • Kentico CMS and Basecamp is a plus
  • Proven ability to develop proactive and innovative marketing strategies, leveraging industry knowledge and emerging trends to drive engagement and achieve organizational objectives.
