Job Summary

Own end-to-end analytics to turn data into actionable insights for editorial and marketing initiatives, from framing problems to communicating results, while upholding journalistic independence and the NYT mission.

  • Own data analysis workflow: problem framing, analysis execution, and storytelling of results for cross-functional teams.
  • Collaborate with Media/Marketing to evaluate paid campaigns and measure impact against KPIs.
  • Represent analytics outputs through clear, decision-ready dashboards and reports that influence strategy while upholding independent journalism.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • You will write SQL to pipeline and analyze big data
  • You will partner with our Media and Marketing teams on analysis of Paid Media Marketing
  • You will lead all phases of analytic work: from problem definition to representation of results
  • Demonstrate support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world

Preferred

  • Experience analyzing marketing efforts and familiarity with typical marketing KPIs.
  • Experience in Python or R

Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience working with data teams to deliver analysis or a quantitative degree
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience working with relational databases
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Mode, Tableau, or Looker
