Job Summary

Own the integrated marketing and communications for UW AI and ML education programs, coordinating web, social, email, video, print, and external storytelling to translate research for broad audiences and support program goals.

  • Digital and content operations: manage websites, publish web stories, oversee the YouTube channel, and ensure accessibility and brand alignment.
  • Campaigns and publications: write and distribute emails and print materials, create brand-consistent assets, and coordinate cross-unit stories for UW publications and social channels.
  • Engagement and partnerships: craft social strategies, align initiatives with departments, nominate speakers and awards, and maintain relationships with external affairs, advancement, and partners.

Job Description

Own the integrated communications and marketing for UW AI and ML education programs, spanning web, social, email, video, print, and external partnerships, with content that translates complex research for broad audiences.

  • Digital and content operations: manage websites, publish web stories, oversee the YouTube channel, and ensure accessibility and brand alignment.
  • Campaigns and publications: write and distribute emails and print materials, create brand-consistent marketing assets, and coordinate cross-unit stories for UW publications and social channels.
  • Engagement and partnerships: build social strategies, coordinate initiatives with departments, nominate speakers and awards, and maintain relationships with external affairs, advancement, and partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, English or other related field
  • At least two years managing communications programs in an academic research environment or engineering, or technology-focused organization or company, or related field
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to translate technical subject matters for a general audience
  • Ability to use social media platforms to effectively and responsibly communicate brand message
  • Experience managing websites
  • Experience working in WordPress or Drupal
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office: Outlook, Excel, Access, Word
  • Working knowledge of Adobe products: Photoshop, Acrobat Professional, InDesign
  • Competence in HTML and content management systems; ability to communicate effectively about web and internet related topics with technical and non-technical audiences
  • Attentive to detail and able to work independently with limited oversight
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and cooperatively in a diverse workplace
  • Demonstrated creativity, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Proven organization and multi-tasking skills in a fast-paced environment

Preferred

  • Ability to quickly learn and use new software packages effectively
  • Competence in SEO (search engine optimization) techniques
  • Knowledge of news and developments in artificial intelligence and machine learning
