Senior Digital Content Writer

Company: Reed

Salary: £40,000 to £45,000 depending on experience
Location: Reed N900 - 900 Pavilion Dr, Northampton NN4 7RG Northampton with hybrid working two days per week

Hybrid: Office based on Tuesdays and Thursdays and working from home on Monday, Wednesday and Friday

Contract: Full Time 37.5 hours per week and permanent

As a Senior Digital Content Writer, you will play a key role in our content marketing team, the hub of creativity and innovation. You will take ownership of crafting compelling content that not only performs strongly in search and AI visibility but also resonates, engages and inspires.

This role offers a balance of analytical and creative work, combining performance focused content with wider editorial storytelling and campaign ideas.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the Head of Content Marketing in maintaining high editorial standards with strong quality control across all outputs
  • Bring fresh ideas and creative thinking to the team to enhance storytelling
  • Ensure all content aligns with the Reed tone of voice
  • Plan and deliver a balanced mix of hub, hero and hygiene content aligned to business goals
  • Oversee content produced by other team members and provide mentoring support
  • Work closely with external agency partners to deliver high performing SEO, GEO and AEO content across search and digital PR
  • Carry out research into industries, trends and audience interests, alongside brand and competitor analysis
  • Support the planning and optimisation of the content calendar in line with business priorities
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Skills and experience required

  • Experience writing for both B2B and B2C audiences
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong proofreading and editing skills
  • Experience producing a wide range of content formats including blogs, speeches, advertorials and video scripts
  • Proven ability to create high performing content with a strong understanding of SEO and keyword optimisation
  • Experience using data and insights to inform content decisions
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate and guide others
  • Good understanding of content marketing principles
  • Experience using content management systems and workflow tools
  • Ability to work independently across multiple projects
  • Understanding of technical SEO fundamentals such as site structure, indexing and internal linking

Desirable

  • Four years or more experience in content production and editorial delivery
  • Experience using AI tools to support content creation and personalisation
  • Degree or equivalent in journalism, English, marketing or a related field
  • Experience improving content visibility and organic growth using SEO
  • Familiarity with large language model led content strategies
