Job Description

Responsibilities

  • The Social Media Manager will own and evolve YoungMinds' social media strategy from the ground up, leading a small, passionate team to create standout, community-led content for a highly engaged audience of 600k+.
  • Our channels are increasingly critical to reaching young people and the parents and adults in their lives - and this role sits right at the centre of mobilising them around our new organisational direction, using insight and creative instinct to reach the people who need us most.
  • You'll take an audience-first, insight-led approach - finding the right tone and format for every platform. Never clinical. Never performative. Always rooted in genuine community and support.
  • The role will involve:
  • Embodying AJEDI values in content creation - prioritising the lived experience of minoritised young people, including Black, racially minoritised and LGBTQ+ young people
  • Leading the development of a refreshed social media strategy across YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and emerging platforms
  • Turning a sensitive, high-stakes subject into content people actively choose to engage with
  • Leading and mentoring a creative team (2 x Social Media Officers, one with a specific focus on video content)
  • Championing and safeguarding brand, tone and messaging at every stage
  • Collaborating with young people, partners and creators to co-produce authentic stories and campaign

Requirements

  • Experience shaping and delivering a social media strategy with real strategic ownership
  • Experience using excellent written and visual communication and storytelling skills to turn complex, sensitive or systemic issues into engaging content
  • Experience managing social media channels on behalf of an organisation, with a following of 100k+
  • Experience overseeing community management at scale via a community management platform (e.g. Sprout or equivalent)
  • Experience leading and mentoring a team to execute high-quality content and manage competing deadlines
  • Ability to deliver compelling, youth-focused content, led by trends and insight
  • Ability to take a trauma-informed approach to communication and crisis response
  • Candidates will also be assessed on a short written task focused on how they will embody YoungMinds' values around anti-racism, justice, equity, diversity and inclusion in their day-to-day role

Benefits

  • 25 days paid holiday entitlement (plus Bank Holidays)
  • three days additional leave over Christmas and New Year
  • auto-enrolment onto pension scheme where YoungMinds will match your contribution up to five per cent
  • statutory benefits such as parental leave and sick pay
  • a wide range of other health, wellbeing and lifestyle benefits
  • a dedication to continued professional development, training and shared best practice
