Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Lead content-led SEO strategies and roadmaps aligned with client objectives, audience needs and commercial priorities.
  • Act as a trusted senior contact for clients, turning complex search and content insight into clear recommendations, decisions and next steps.
  • Set priorities across multiple content workstreams, providing constructive challenge and pushback when requests, timings or scope create delivery risk.
  • Translate strategy into practical delivery plans, briefs and workflows, coordinating internal specialists, client teams, writers, freelancers and external partners.
  • Lead content audits, keyword and topic research, competitor analysis, content-gap analysis and on-page optimisation.
  • Shape editorial and e-commerce content programmes, including category and product landing pages, evergreen content, campaign content and localisation.
  • Review and quality-assure briefs, copy and recommendations so outputs are accurate, useful, on-brand and optimised for search.
  • Define content measurement frameworks and use performance data to improve priorities, recommendations and future activity.
  • Work closely with technical SEO, digital PR, data, creative, media and client teams to make content SEO part of an integrated marketing approach.
  • Apply AI-enabled workflows responsibly to research, briefing, optimisation and quality assurance, while maintaining strong editorial judgement.

Requirements

  • Content SEO expertise: A strong record of building and delivering content strategies that improve organic performance.
  • Client leadership: Confidence leading senior conversations, presenting recommendations and managing complex stakeholder expectations.
  • Editorial judgement: Excellent writing, editing and briefing skills, with a clear understanding of brand voice, audience value and search intent.
  • On-page SEO: Deep knowledge of keyword targeting, metadata, headings, internal linking, information architecture and content quality.
  • Strategic thinking: The ability to connect SEO activity to wider marketing and business goals rather than treating content as a standalone output.
  • Delivery leadership: Strong prioritisation, planning and coordination skills across concurrent accounts and workstreams.
  • Data-led decision-making: The ability to interpret performance data, identify the real issue and recommend a proportionate response.
  • Collaboration: A practical, low-ego approach to working across disciplines, markets and levels of seniority.
  • Significant experience in SEO content strategy and delivery, ideally in an agency or similarly fast-moving, multi-client environment.
  • Experience working with large UK brands and complex websites; e-commerce experience is strongly preferred.
