Responsibilities

• Leading Mencap's national media and PR function
• Developing and delivering impactful media strategies and campaigns
• Managing issues and crisis communications with confidence and sound judgement
• Identifying opportunities to raise the visibility of people with a learning disability across the media landscape
• Working closely with senior leaders, campaign teams, storytellers and ambassadors to amplify Mencap's voice
• Inspiring, developing and supporting a passionate team of media professionals

Requirements

• Significant experience leading media relations and PR at a national level
• A proven ability to deliver impactful media coverage and influence public debate
• Strong experience in issues and reputation management
• Exceptional leadership and stakeholder management skills
• A passion for equality, inclusion and human rights
• Charity sector experience is welcomed but not essential.
