Job Summary

Own and align the district's digital storytelling and media presence with Forestry England Yorkshire strategy, delivering press coverage, internal comms, and site visits while keeping content fresh and compliant.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Photography & videography: Manage and develop the district’s photography and videography bank to ensure we are relevant and portray the forests and woodlands in the best possible manner.
  • Press office: Provide press office support to achieve high impact coverage across a wide range of media channels to support business priorities.
  • Internal comms: Support the delivery of the overarching plan to improve internal communications and collaboration in the district and encourage engagement of staff through quarterly newsletters and our district intranet.
  • Digital content scheduling: Work with the Marketing and Communications Manager to schedule and coordinate content across all digital channels, increasing levels of support and engagement, driving visitors to our sites and increasing revenue.
  • Web/digital presence: Maintain a strong presence on web and digital marketing channels to drive visits to the nation’s forests in Yorkshire.
  • Social monitoring: Monitor and evaluate our social media activity to ensure we are delivering on our plans and responding to issues effectively.
  • Trends/compliance: Work closely with colleagues in the national team to keep abreast of digital and social media trends to ensure that our activity complies with best practice and regulations.
  • Other tasks: Any other tasks, reasonably requested by your line manager or Head of Recreation and Visitor Experience.

Requirements

  • Experience in marketing/communications role.
  • Experience with mainstream social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok) and analytics tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to create engaging content for diverse audiences.
  • Experience managing websites and digital marketing channels.
  • Track record of effectively managing and prioritising complex workloads.
  • Creative thinker with ability to generate new ideas and concepts.
  • Collaborative and team-focused with the ability to build strong stakeholder relationships.
  • Desirable: Experience in the leisure, tourism or environmental sector.
  • Desirable: Experience using design software such as InDesign, Photoshop or Illustrator.
  • Desirable: Experience using social scheduling platforms such as Meta Business Suite, Hootsuite or similar.

Preferred
