Responsibilities
- Lead regular meetings with Center leadership and staff to identify opportunities for communication items and campaigns
- Develop streamlined systems and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure timely and consistent delivery of communications and news
- Engage in clear and accessible science communication efforts tailored to diverse audiences
- Write press releases and outward-facing articles as needed
- Work with the YSE Office of Communications, Yale’s Office of Public Affairs and Communications, university publications, and other units across campus to develop and publicize stories about the Center’s research, programs, and impact
- Identify and utilize emerging ways of exposure
- Capture photos and documentation of important and relevant events at Yale and beyond, as assigned
- Monitor and manage Center websites, ensuring content is accurate, current, and engaging
- Monitor and manage Center social media accounts, growing reach and fostering community engagement
- Stay updated on Center publications, summarizing and uploading corresponding announcements to appropriate channels
- Serve as a key point of contact and management for web development across Center platforms, including
stockholm-declaration.org,
chemistryforsustainability.org,
globalgreenchem.com, and
greenchemistry.yale.edu
- Continuously optimize the visibility and reach of all Center work across digital and traditional channels utilizing key metrics
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and four years of experience in website design, production, marketing, project management or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g. science communication, graphic and web design, communications, chemistry, chemical engineering or similar). Prior experience in the field of Chemistry or Chemical Engineering; different combinations of work experience and education will be considered.
Preferred
- 3–4 years of experience in mission-driven organizations and international environments.
- Demonstrated experience in the development and roll-out of integrated science-related communications strategies in multi-stakeholder environments.
- Strong record of science communication, storytelling, and community management, rounded by experience in website development and social media.
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment, manage time-sensitive issues, and changing priorities.
