Responsibilities

Own the full lifecycle — email, SMS, push, in-product messaging — with relentless focus on early activation
Identify the behavioral signals that predict long-term retention and build programs around them
Develop campaigns around key moments in the parent journey — early newborn weeks, the month 3 drop-off, toddler transitions — where engagement naturally rises or falls
Move users from passive sign-ups to deeply engaged members who understand what Joy actually is
Identify, test, and build playbooks for growth channels we haven’t yet cracked — paid social, SEO/content, influencer, employer benefits, and partnerships are all on the table
Run fast, rigorous experiments and turn learnings into repeatable programs before scaling spend
Own channel P&Ls and make smart, data-driven calls about where to invest and what to cut
Help Joy exist in the world beyond our existing distribution — most parents have never heard of us, and that needs to change

Requirements

8–12+ years in growth or performance marketing, with deep experience in retention, CRM, or lifecycle — this is not a pure acquisition role
You’ve built from scratch before: a channel, a lifecycle program, a team. You know what zero-to-one actually requires and you’re energized by it, not exhausted by it
Strong analytical instincts — you can run a funnel analysis, spot a behavioral pattern, and turn data into a campaign without needing everything handed to you
You default to shipping over debating. You don’t wait for perfect data. You test, learn, and iterate.
You’ve managed people and you’re excited to do it again — but you’re not precious about doing the work yourself while the team is small
You have genuine taste. Joy has a specific brand voice — warm, honest, non-judgmental, smart. You understand that growth marketing done wrong can damage a brand, and you protect against that instinctively.
