The Department of Parks and Recreation, Prince George’s County, is seeking Special Event Staff to support recreation programs and community events throughout the year. This on-call position provides operational and customer service support for events, including set-up and break-down, guest assistance, parking support, and event operations. Events may take place indoors or outdoors and often occur during evenings and weekends, especially during peak seasons such as the summer months. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with the public, are dependable, and can work in fast-paced environments. A valid driver’s license is required, as staff may be asked to assist with transporting equipment or operating departmental vehicles. For more information about the Seasonal Hiring process and application status for Prince George’s County Parks and Recreation, please contact Joelle Edmond, Joelle.Edmond@pgparks.com or Brenda Miller Brenda.Miller@Pgparks.com.Key Duties and Responsibilities Assist with event set-up and break-down, including chairs, tables, equipment, and supplies Provide customer service and greet guests at events Support event operations by assisting event managers with assigned tasks Assist with seating organization and crowd flow in accordance with safety and fire code regulations Support event marketing and promotional activities as assigned Maintain cleanliness and organization of event venues before, during, and after events Assist with inventory check-in/check-out and inspect equipment for damage Support parking operations, including directing traffic and assisting patrons Assist with event packing and equipment storage following events Perform other related duties as required based on event needs Required High school diploma or GED required Customer service experience required Valid driver’s license required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities List preferred/required KSA May be subject to medical, drug and alcohol testing. Work hours On-call position with hours based on event schedules Requires availability during evenings and weekends, including Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays Additional hours may be required during peak event seasons, including summer months Working Conditions/Environment Moderate physical activity required Position requires standing and/or walking for extended periods Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds Work may involve indoor and outdoor events and exposure to varying weather conditions Supplemental information Employment is contingent upon a favorable background check. The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) is a bi-county agency empowered by the State of Maryland in 1927 to acquire, develop, maintain and administer a regional system of parks within Montgomery and Prince George's Counties, and to provide land use planning for the physical development of these counties. The agency gained responsibility for public recreation program in Prince George's County in 1970.Governing BodyThe governing body of M-NCPPC consists of 10 members, 5 appointed by Montgomery County and 5 by Prince George's County. The Commission coordinates & acts on matters of interest to both counties, and meets at least once a month. The members of the Commission from each county serve as separate Planning Boards to facilitate, review and administer the matters affecting their respective counties.Range of DutiesM-NCPPC administers a park system of more than 52,000 acres. It is composed of stream valley parks, large regional parks, neighborhood parks and park-school recreation areas. Its staff of career employees includes planners, park and recreation administrators, park police and administration staff.
