The Internal Communication Manager role represents a key building opportunity within the firm’s growing communications function. The Manager is responsible for preparing and executing strategic communication initiatives that foster employee engagement, promote organizational transparency, and support the overall goals of the firm. Reporting to the Associate Director of Communications, this role helps shape and strengthen internal communication systems and practices, ensuring consistent messaging across channels while collaborating closely with leadership and cross‑functional teams to deliver timely and impactful communications. Responsibilities: Strategic Communication Planning With Associate Director of Communications, develop and implement comprehensive internal communication strategies aligned with firm-wide goals and priorities. Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure consistent messaging and alignment with organizational values and objectives. Manage communication efforts for major initiatives, including organizational changes, new policies, and strategic projects. Stay on the pulse of internal communications best practices and industry trends to proactively turn into action. Work closely with firm leadership, stakeholders and executives to support internal initiatives from various departments, including the Managing Member’s office, Diversity, HR, IT, etc. Content Development and Distribution Create compelling internal content including newsletters, announcements, leadership messages, and event communications. Manage editorial calendars and coordinate with contributors across departments to ensure consistent and timely messaging. Tailor communications to diverse audiences across offices, departments, and practice groups. Collaborate closely with colleagues across MDB to develop and deliver cohesive internal communication components that seamlessly align with and enhance fully integrated firmwide campaigns. Employee Engagement and Change Management Support change management initiatives through clear, empathetic, and strategic communication. Develop campaigns and messaging that foster a sense of community, inclusion, and shared purpose. Facilitate feedback loops and engagement surveys to report learnings and inform future communication strategies. Intranet Leadership With Associate Director of Communications, drive the strategic vision for the firm’s intranet, ensuring it serves as a central hub for employee engagement, information sharing, and collaboration. Partner with IT, HR, and other stakeholders to enhance the site’s functionality, user experience, and content relevance. Event and Initiative Support Coordinate internal communication efforts around key events such as town halls, training sessions, and team milestones. Partner with Events colleagues to deliver impactful meetings that effectively communicate the desired key messages and takeaways. Provide messaging support for MBD-led initiatives and cross-functional projects. Measurement and Continuous Improvement Monitor communication effectiveness using analytics and employee feedback. Identify opportunities for improvement and innovation in internal communication practices. Report on communication metrics and outcomes to leadership. This role requires 60% in office presence; remote work is permissible 40% of the time. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or related field. 9+ years of experience in internal communications or corporate communications. Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills. Experience managing communication platforms and tools. Ability to work collaboratively across teams and influence stakeholders. Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to influence others. Ability to function in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment, prioritize multiple projects on a daily basis, and adjust to shifting priorities. Strong planning, project management and organizational skills. Strong sense of urgency. Facility analyzing, working with and presenting data. Ability to collaborate and gain the respect, trust, and confidence of the Firm’s attorneys and professional staff. Possess a “hands-on” tactical approach. Creative and proactive approach to problem solving. Facilitate teamwork and identify opportunities to develop new processes/infrastructure. Demonstrated ability to grasp and implement new concepts quickly. Strong analytical abilities, resourcefulness, and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a team with a proactive and positive style that fosters collaborative working relationships. Outstanding sense of customer service, with demonstrated ability to instill this in others. Deep personal commitment to integrity, excellent judgment, and the highest standards of ethics. Must display the highest level of diplomacy, tact and discretion, with comfort in handling and maintaining confidential information. Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in using Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint. Ability to quickly get up to speed and master new applications and software is critical. Prior experience managing staff is required. Demonstrated ability to motivate and develop teams. Proven leadership and management abilities. Demonstrated experience in employee relations, performance improvement and separations.
