Design Lead at a Shopify CRO Agency (Remote, Contract to Permanent)

ABOUT ECOM LANDERS

We design and build high converting Shopify landing pages for 7 and 8 figure ecommerce brands, with over 5,000 pages delivered and counting. Every page is rooted in strategy, consumer psychology, and real performance data, never templates.

We're growing fast, and we'd love to welcome a Design Lead to the team to own the design function as we scale.

THE ROLE

This is a real step up from a senior designer role. You'll oversee the design department, setting the standard, holding the bar on quality, and building the systems that let us deliver fast without anything slipping through the cracks.

You're not afraid to get stuck into a design when it's needed, but this role won't be about smashing through deliverables. The heart of the job is making the whole team's output better. That means tighter processes, quicker turnarounds, and consistent quality across every brand we work with.

Day to day, this isn't a customer facing role. That said, you'll need a real feel for client success. There will be moments where you're on a call aligning on expectations, making sure a client feels heard, or gently steering a project back on track. We want someone who feels at home in those conversations, not just behind Figma.

Here's what you'll own:

• Leading and overseeing the design department across our delivery pods

• Setting, documenting, and upholding our design quality standards, so every page we ship meets the bar

• Building the systems and processes that keep design output fast and consistent as we grow

• Reviewing, mentoring, and lifting the level of the designers around you

• Owning design quality checks before work reaches the client

• Stepping into client conversations when needed to align on expectations and keep things moving smoothly

• Getting stuck into a design yourself when it's needed, though the role won't be about churning through deliverables

WHO WE'RE HOPING TO FIND

• Someone with 2 or more years at another ecommerce or Shopify agency, ideally a larger, more established one where you've seen how design runs at scale. This is the one thing we can't be flexible on.

• Experience leading or mentoring designers, with a real eye for raising quality across a team

• Expert level Figma skills

• A strong understanding of CRO, so you know why pages convert, how to structure a story, and how design choices move the numbers

• Strong copywriting ability, so you can take a strategy brief and write sections that genuinely sell, rather than laying out someone else's words

• Comfort communicating directly with clients, aligning on expectations, handling feedback, and keeping people confident in the work

• A systems minded approach, where you think in process rather than just output and spot the bottleneck before it becomes a problem

• Experience with Shopify, Replo, or similar tools is a lovely bonus

THE TERMS

We're hiring this as a contract role to begin with, on a guaranteed monthly retainer, with a clear path to full employment as we grow together.

• £4,000 to £4,500 per month (roughly £48,000 to £54,000 a year)

• Revenue based % bonuses
