Job Purpose: The Director of Retail Consolidation is responsible for overseeing the Consolidation team and all related consolidation activities. This position involves managing the personnel and work load assigned to the Consolidation team as well as the development, testing and implementation of optimization programs. This role is responsible for ensuring optimal order routing to balance service for our customers and profitability for RJW. This role will report to the VP of Retail Operations. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Accountable for consolidation strategy to ensure that a high level of service, profitability, and growth management are achievable. Responsible for ensuring margin expansion occurs through consolidation, while limiting threats to margin contraction in each modes routing decisions. Utilize KPIs and reporting to identify additional opportunities for consolidation and adjust process to account for those opportunities. Collaborate internally with RJW technical teams to improve the consolidation efficiency and interactive experience while taking into account RJW and retailer operational procedures. Take point on new feature testing, relaying feedback, implementation, and adoption. Provide clear expectations to the business as consolidation activities change, distribute and effectively communicate change. Gather feedback from the business and make adjustment to consolidation or operational strategy. Participate in discussions with technical team members to represent the consolidation program and team. Provide feedback, insight and offer solutions when appropriate. Monitor transportation market conditions for pricing to ensure routing decisions maximize profitability. Collaborate with the carrier teams at RJW to ensure the shipping method and mode align to retailer expectations and process requirements. Advise on changes as necessary to meet requirements and adjust to market demand on transportation methods.Collaborate with the directors of Account Management and Retailer Management to ensure that the consolidation programs being executed by the team align with customer and retailer expectations. Regularly evaluate and adjust programs as necessary to promote optimal consolidation tailored to the retailers' expectations.Provide leadership to Consolidation team. Collect feedback on consolidation activities, identify areas of strength and improvement, provide guidance and coaching on daily activity and group dynamics. Oversee training and implementation of new or ongoing activities. Perform annual reviews and regular one on one's for direct reports. Assist in the process for auditing revenue rates to ensure accuracyPerform any other duties or tasks as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities Departmental supervisory responsibilities should be handled in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Education and/or Experience Required: Experience with LTL, TL, Intermodal negotiations, transits, and operations Strong Internet and e-commerce skills Strong Excel and Word skill with knowledge of Access and general database functions. Good customer service and problem resolution skills Good time management skills Personnel management experience Additional Education and/or Experience: College degree in Logistics or Supply Management or 3+ years of related experience Language Skills Sets: Must be able to communicate, read, write, and speak English. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers. Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Ability to determine "root cause" of problem and determine corrective action. Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual must have knowledge of Business Operating Systems, Internet software, Word Processing, and Spreadsheet software. Physical/Mental Requirements: Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Must be able to activate phone systems utilizing keyboards and buttons. Must be articulate and comfortable speaking in front of others. Regularly works in an indoor/office environment and required to sit and/or use repetitive hand motion. Frequently required to talk, hear, stand and walk. Must be able to work in excess of continuous 8 hours when required. Must be able to work under stressful situations, have good cognitive skills, maintain work accuracy, and the ability to concentrate on more than one task at time. Must have the ability to read and discern visual images on a variety of media with 20/20 corrected vision. Must be able to speak and communicate clearly over telephones. Must be in sound physical health as determined by a certified licensed physician with no evidence of the use of controlled substances.
