Try Career AgentSummary Reporting to the Associate Dean of the Ric Edelman College of Communication, Humanities, and Social Sciences and joining the Assistant Director for Career Development and Experiential Learning, the new Coordinator for Career Preparation and Professional Success is a professional full-time position that supports the Center for Professional Success (CPS). The CPS serves Ric Edelman College students through offering cocurricular experiences that enhance students’ professional development and through supporting faculty in designing and implementing career-focused instruction. The recently merged Ric Edelman College of Communication, Humanities, and Social Sciences is the second largest college at Rowan University with fourteen departments and thirty majors. The College also houses a number of Centers and Institutes that serve both research and pedagogical functions. As a critical member of the Ric Edelman College Dean’s Office, the Coordinator for Career Preparation and Professional Success will assist with the planning and management of the CPS. The person in this position will help articulate a vision for the center’s future in light of the recent merger that incorporates five additional departments and thirteen new programs. Responsibilities include: working directly with students in a career counseling role; preparing, leading, and coordinating career-focused workshops for students; creating resources and events to connect students with internship, networking, and other experiential learning opportunities; supervising student interns working in the CPS; and staying current with hiring trends and technologies. Essential Duties And Responsibilities The following description addresses the general duties and responsibilities of the Coordinator for Career Preparation and Professional Success. This document does not cover all job expectations or specific procedures for completing these responsibilities. All employees are expected to review and abide by additional policies and specific procedures described in other documents including manuals, as well as all local, state and federal laws. Assist with the planning and coordination of the Center for Professional Success: Collaborate with the Associate Dean and Assistant Director to develop a three-year strategic plan for the CPS in light of the college merger Contribute to tracking and analyzing student engagement data to identify career readiness gaps and opportunities for improvement. Contribute to the annual assessment of CPS services, leveraging data to inform the annual report written in collaboration with the Associate Dean and Assistant Director. Support preparation of the CPS annual budget in consultation with the Associate Dean and Assistant Director of Career Development and Experiential Learning Maintain accurate student and employer records and understand the institution’s interpretation of FERPA rules Working with the Assistant Director of Career Development and Experiential Learning, collaborate with CPS stakeholders to advance career initiatives within the Ric Edelman College Participate in Career and Professional Services meetings and support major events and career fairs, as needed Partner with the Associate Dean, Assistant Director, Ric Edelman College Media Specialist and other staff to create internal/ external public relations materials (for example, social media posts, assignment repositories, updated website, etc.) Support recruitment, training, and oversight of student interns who support the functions of the CPS Collaborate with Ric Edelman College faculty-in-residence to support curricular initiatives, as needed to support experiential learning across the college Engage with student organizations to promote career-focused events and initiatives Interface with the Ric Edelman College employee advisory board Support Ric Edelman College students’ professional development and career readiness Conduct one-on-one career coaching sessions to support career exploration, job search strategies, resume development, and interview preparation, particularly for students entering creative sectors for which there may be no prescribed career path Develop new models of career coaching that might include group sessions, peer-to-peer mentoring, or stand alone Canvas modules Develop and facilitate workshops for students on relevant career topics and professional skills, such as: writing resumes, interviewing, exhibiting professionalism, networking, understanding AI’s role in the workplace, leveraging LinkedIn, data storytelling Research and develop interactive workshops on commonly used professional software tools, such as Word, Excel, Adobe Illustrator, Canva, etc. Work with employer partners to identify internship, co-op, and job opportunities that align with academic programs, and find ways to advertise these to students Stay up-to-date with hiring trends and technology Support the collection of data on where Ric Edelman College students are hired post-graduation Stay current with labor market analytics in order to recognize opportunities for communication, humanities, and social sciences graduates Stay current with the impact of technology, including AI, on the hiring process in order to provide accurate career counseling to students Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Counseling, Higher Education, or related field preferred 1+ years of experiences in career services, student affairs, or a related field Strong organizational and project management skills Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations Strong support of the liberal arts and understanding of the unique experience of students in communication, humanities, and social sciences Salary & Benefits In compliance with The State of New Jersey's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is AFT: Range 18 ($55,142.18 Min to $63,410.34), with placement within the range determined by candidate's qualifications, professional experience, internal equity, and other factors. For internal applicants, salary is determined per the Pay Adjustment formula (NJAC 4A:3-4.9 & 4.10). For eligible employees, benefits include: comprehensive NJ State health, dental and retirement benefits, extensive accrued time off/paid holidays, and tuition reimbursement for employee, spouse, and dependents to attend Rowan University, Glassboro.
