Job Title: Contract Attorney – Trademark and Brand Protection Specialist Location: New York | Los Angeles | Chicago (Hybrid) We are seeking an experienced Intellectual Property Attorney to join our cross-office intellectual property practice. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in trademark clearance, trademark portfolio management (domestic and global), and strategic brand protection and enforcement. Prior experience in anti-counterfeiting efforts, copyright matters, and digital enforcement is valued. This hourly, non-partnership track position offers the opportunity to collaborate with IP professionals across our offices on a diverse range of intellectual property matters. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Handle trademark clearance, filing, prosecution, and maintenance across a diverse portfolio of clients. Conduct trademark searches and prepare risk assessments. Draft and respond to USPTO Office Actions. Coordinate with foreign counsel on international trademark matters. Provide strategic advice on trademark enforcement and brand protection. Support and execute anti-counterfeiting strategies, including coordinating with customs authorities and managing brand protection programs. Provide counsel on copyright registration and protection strategies. Manage intellectual property takedown requests on social media and digital platforms, including DMCA notices and platform-specific enforcement procedures. Collaborate with attorneys and staff across multiple offices, contributing to a cohesive and integrated IP practice. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS J.D. from an accredited law school and admission to a U.S. state bar. 5+ years of experience in trademark clearance, prosecution, portfolio management, and brand protection. Strong knowledge of U.S. trademark law; familiarity with international systems preferred Experience with USPTO procedure and electronic filing systems. Excellent legal writing and communication skills. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a remote or flexible environment. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. VALUED EXPERIENCE Familiarity with copyright registration and protection strategies. Experience with anti-counterfeiting programs, customs recordations and coordinating with enforcement agencies. Experience managing IP takedowns on social media platforms (e.g., Meta, TikTok, Amazon) and digital marketplaces. Knowledge of DMCA takedown procedures and platform-specific IP enforcement mechanisms. Ability to work effectively as part of a geographically distributed team. POSITION DETAILS Type: Hourly Contract / Non-Partnership Track Duration: 8-12 months, with potential extension Schedule: Hybrid; flexibility available with core collaboration hours Compensation: Competitive Hourly Rate $170 - $200/hr.
