BID/JOB ANNOUNCEMENT AUDIO-VISUAL SPECIALIST CHICAGO PUBLIC LIBRARY CORPORATE AND PRIVATE EVENTS Number of Positions: 1 (Additional Vacancies Possible Pending Budget Approval) Starting Annual Salary: $57,000 This position is open to the public and all current City employees covered under the City’s collective bargaining agreement with AMERICAN FEDERATION OF STATE, COUNTY, AND MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES (AFSCME) – BARGAINING UNIT 1, 3, 4 & 5. Only employees in City job titles in this bargaining unit are eligible to bid. BID INSTRUCTIONS: Apply on the bid site: https://chicago.taleo.net/careersection/103/jobsearch.ftl?lang=en AND Check the box on your profile titled “Currently employed by the City of Chicago” Enter your employee ID (located on your pay stub labeled ‘payee/employee number’) Select your correct bargaining unit FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS WILL RESULT IN A REJECTED BID APPLICATION Applications for this position will be accepted until 11:59pm CDT on 03/02/2026 Essential Duties Operates a wide variety of audio-visual equipment (e.g., video cameras, video players, projectors, mixing boards, amplifiers, tuners) in the production of video and sound recording projects Sets up equipment and creates lighting plans in accordance with project specifications Runs audio-visual displays including multi-image shows for performances, exhibits and programs Sets up and strikes equipment in remote locations Adapts equipment and lighting plans to unforeseen production problems Performs minor and routine repairs of audio-visual equipment Arranges for service and maintenance of equipment by vendors Serves as technical liaison with private companies using city facilities for theatrical productions Assists in the selection and purchase of audio-visual equipment Maintains an inventory of audio-visual and lighting equipment Oversees and monitors the use of related equipment for departmental programs and events, as required Additional Duties May Be Required For This Position. Location: 400 S. State St - Corporate and Private Events Days: Sunday – Saturday Hours: 8:00AM - 8:00PM Some evenings and weekends may be required for events THIS POSITION IS IN THE CAREER SERVICE Three (3) years of experience in operating audio-visual equipment including stage lighting, multi-media coordination and sound support Should the above criteria not be fulfilled, the following options are acceptable: Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate’s degree or higher, plus one (1) year of work experience in operating audio-visual equipment including stage lighting, multi-media coordination and sound support Selection Requirements This position requires applicants to complete an interview.
