Responsibilities The successful candidate will teach four courses in both the fall and spring semesters, which would include an introductory sports reporting class for freshmen, a sports podcasting class and a capstone class of juniors and seniors that will produce a live half time and post-game show. They will also also mentor undergraduate students within the Documentary, Sports Media and Journalism major, serve on university and Dodge College committees and other service projects as assigned, and maintain currency in the industry. Job Requirements Required Significant experience working in sports media journalism at national and/or local levels, producing work that has achieved national and industry recognition Multimedia journalism experience which will allow the successful candidate to teach sports media students the storytelling skills needed today: cross platform writing, live production, editing, ethics Desired A master’s degree is preferred but not required; significant equivalent professional experience will also be considered, Previous teaching experience is preferred but not required. Ideally, the candidate will also have a solid understanding of what it means to teach “sports beyond stats and the scoreboard” as well as the production demands of field reporting and live production.
