About The Role
To assist with the implementation and embedding of AI tools across the Editorial function. Defining requirements, identifying the most beneficial solutions and assisting with the implementation of these. Ensuring the ongoing management of AI solutions in relation to source content requirements and business needs.
To create, update and review health, safety, environment and energy focused content for the Barbour International Service. To research, analyse and gain a comprehensive understanding of key health, safety, environment and energy topics (from a legislative and official guidance perspective) in multiple jurisdictions and use this intelligence to produce factual guidance content for a professional audience. To create content in line with our defined content types while also working to Barbour standards relating to quality, accuracy, coverage and the fulfilment of user expectations. To work to production deadlines.
What You'll Be Getting Up To
AI Implementation
  • To analyse source content, gather requirements and define outputs in relation to the use of AI in the creation of document content, for example summaries of legislation.
  • To review and evaluate available tools, determining and advising on their suitability, benefits and costs.
  • The evaluation and review of content generated through the use of AI, taking into consideration an Editorial acceptance criterion and the intended output.
  • To define processes for the consistent creation of content to predefined templates.
  • To evaluate requirements and implement the use of AI within wider research tasks.
  • To ensure the currency and suitability of processes on an ongoing basis.
Writing and Research
  • To create, update and review health, safety, environment and energy focused international content providing guidance on relevant legislation and official guidance and how to remain compliant. This content focusses on a number of jurisdictions.
  • To research and gain a comprehensive understanding of health, safety, environment and energy topics being covered.
  • To be comfortable digesting, analysing and summarising legislation, official guidance and governance information for use in the end guidance content.
  • To be comfortable determining information, news and topics which would be relevant to our audience.
  • To become familiar and knowledgeable on sources of official information, government and legislative structures and to keep up to date with current affairs relating to this sector.
  • To work to defined content templates and specifications which define both the structure and guide on the extent of coverage.
  • Using AI enabled processes to create and validate content which is suitable for a professional, business-to-business audience; being factual, interesting, digestible and very well written.
  • Ensure the correctness and accuracy of content. Raising any issues or queries identified at any point during the content research, review and creation process.
  • Review, assess and verify content produced by other writers.
  • To work to and define production deadlines and be comfortable working under pressure.

In order to excel in this role you need...
  • An understanding of, or experience in, the health and safety and/or environment and energy sectors is desirable.
  • Experience working with legislation, compliance or regulatory content.
  • GCSE English and Maths at C/4 and above
  • Excellent writing skills.
  • Strong research skills.
  • An understanding of AI and desire to align with further technical developments.
  • Ability to analyse information and extract salient and important material.
  • Ability to summarise content.
  • Very attentive to detail and accurate.
  • Comfortable working to deadlines and under pressure.
  • Extremely organised.
  • Able to work as a part of team.
  • An understanding of legislation and legal governance is desirable.
