Title: Adjunct Instructor - Communications (Pool) Institution: Jackson State Community College Job Summary This position is responsible for delivering quality instruction using integrative technologies. Job Duties Teach courses via on ground as assigned. Teach evening, off-campus, and distance-based courses as required. Post grades during the term for student feedback and submit final grades for each semester by the deadline established by the Registrar. Complete required College trainings and complete all required reports such as attendance, Early Alerts, progress reports, grade submissions and administer and return surveys by the required deadlines. Advise the Program Chair or Dean at the earliest possibility if you are unable to teach a class. Attend meetings as requested by the Program Chair and/or Dean. Comply with all the College’s and TBR’s policies and guidelines. Other duties as assigned. Regularly check your JSCC email and your departmental mailbox. Respond to emails/messages within 48 hours except on the weekend. Submit class syllabus or update department syllabus at least 2 weeks prior to the first day of class or within seven days of the execution of contract. Minimum Qualifications A Master’s degree in Communications or a related field with at least eighteen (18) credit hours in graduate level Communications from an accredited institution. Preferred Qualifications Collegiate level teaching experience. Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Knowledge and/or experience using a variety of instructional delivery modes. Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. Pay Rate: $600 per credit hour Closing Date: October 31, 2026 Availability/Closing Date: This posting is not a guarantee of an open position. Future teaching assignments are on a term-by-term basis, which may include fall, spring, and summer.
