Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of the Publication Manager, this position performs highly advanced (senior-level) marketing work, coordinating a variety of marketing, outreach, and economic development activities.
  • The Digital Marketing Specialist supports TPWD's mission to conserve Texas' natural and cultural resources and promote outdoor recreation by developing and managing complex, time-sensitive and high-profile digital and multi-channel marketing strategies and campaigns across the agency.
  • As a senior member of the marketing team, this role integrates agency-approved AI-driven tools to evaluate, iterate and create data-informed marketing initiatives.
  • This role also provides direction to external ad agencies and our in-house creative and interactive services group for marketing assets and media buys.
  • Working under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment, manages several partnership and sponsorship relationships, and engages with senior program staff across the agency on statewide initiatives.
  • Manages marketing budgets for assigned campaigns.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned. Complies with all Agency, Division and Branch rules, regulations and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Six years of professional experience in marketing work such as advertising account management, partnership marketing, sponsorship development, marketing brand management or promotion management.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain, within 30 days of employment, a valid class 'C' Texas driver's license.
  • Education substitutions: One additional year of the required experience may substitute for 30 hours of the required education, with a maximum substitution of 120 semester hours.

Preferred

  • Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in business administration, Marketing, Communications or closely related field. Graduation from an accredited college or university with a grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 or higher.
  • Eight years working in a marketing environment or ad agency.
  • Experience in developing online advertising efforts and analyzing results.
  • Experience with AI tools.
  • Experience in Digital Analytics (Google, Matomo, etc.)
  • Experience in project management.
  • Experience working with media buying and promotions.
  • Experience in developing and overseeing promotional partnerships.
  • Experience in copywriting for print and online.
  • Experience planning and managing paid search, paid social and programmatic media campaigns.
