Job Description
Responsibilities
- Patreon - Post regularly: write and coordinate new video announcements, behind-the-scenes content, outtakes, and creative re-uses of existing illustrations and footage - Respond to patron messages and comments with warmth and timeliness - Run our annual Patreon mailing campaigns (coordinating prints, perks, fulfillment logistics) - Track and uphold all promised patron perks; flag anything at risk of slipping Social Media (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, X/Bluesky, YouTube Community Posts) - Schedule and publish content, and write captions that fit our voice - Ideate and produce posts beyond just "here's our new video": static posts, carousels, Reels, TikToks. Find fresh angles using existing assets. - Make and post YouTube Community tab updates - Manage Instagram Stories Campaigns & Partnerships - Build and execute social campaigns around video launches, product releases, and book launches - Coordinate with partners to ensure we fulfill our social media agreements - Make sure collab posts go out correctly and on time
Requirements
- Are organized and self-directed.
- Are comfortable using Canva, Photoshop, or similar tools to create basic graphics
- Have a track record you can point to: a brand account you've run, a community you've grown, or a portfolio that shows past experiences in community managing
- Are genuinely curious about science and the natural world
- Write well and can adapt tone across platforms and contexts
- Know your way around social scheduling tools (we currently use Hootsuite)
- Understand platform differences: sizing, formats, algorithm behavior, audience expectations
- Applicants must be eligible to work in the US and have a reliable high-speed internet connection.
Preferred
- Experience running a Patreon or other paid membership community
- A science background or degree
- Fluency in more than one language
- A love of puns
- Living in or near Missoula, Montana
