Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Translate the Director’s marcom strategy and editorial calendar into detailed project plans, timelines and budgets; manage day-to-day execution across print, web, video, social media, and press/media initiatives.
  • Content Production: Handle copywriting, data collection and analysis, and content production for print, web, video, and press/media initiatives; implement and execute all social media initiatives and projects. Develop templates and content that staff, board and committee members can utilize to communicate effectively within Chinatown CDC’s brand guidelines.
  • Lead the production of fundraising materials, the annual report, e-news, website updates, social media content, photo, video, multimedia and graphic design projects, and marketing collateral, working hands-on across all channels.
  • Brand Stewardship: Uphold and help enforce Chinatown CDC’s brand guidelines across all materials and channels; flag inconsistencies and support staff training on messaging.
  • Media & PR Support: Support the Director’s media strategy by maintaining the media archive, drafting press releases and talking points, and helping staff media events and crisis-communications logistics.
  • Reporting & Analysis: Track performance across channels (engagement, reach, campaign results) and provide the Director with regular reporting to inform strategy.
  • Vendor & Budget Support: Assist in managing relationships with consultants, vendors and freelancers; track marcom budget spending against plan.
  • Strategic Planning: Partner with the Director to shape the annual marcom strategy plan and calendar, contributing ground-level insight on feasibility, timelines and resourcing.
  • Marketing & Communications: Act as a day-to-day storyteller and brand steward for Chinatown CDC, producing and overseeing content that strengthens relationships with supporters and partners.
  • Project Management: Maintain and monitor project plans, schedules, and budgets across all marcom initiatives; organize, attend and participate in stakeholder meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in marketing, communications, or public relations, or a related field.
  • Experience producing communications across multiple platforms, including print, digital, email, social media, and web.
  • Experience writing, editing, and proofreading communications for diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency with tools such as Canva, Adobe Suite, After Effects, Keynote, Prezi, Google Workspace, and social media management/analytics platforms.
  • Strong project management skills: able to build and manage timelines, budgets and multiple concurrent workstreams.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and work efficiently with staff and community partners.
  • Ability to work independently while proactively communicating with leadership and managing tight deadlines and shifting priorities.

Preferred

  • Experience working in a nonprofit, community-based, or mission-driven organization.
  • Experience supporting fundraising communications, donor engagement campaigns, annual reports, or development initiatives.
  • Experience with media relations, press outreach, and crisis communications.
  • Familiarity with website content management systems and email marketing platforms.
  • Knowledge of or interest in affordable housing, community development, community organizing, cultural arts, or social justice issues.
