Job Summary
Owns and shapes the content lifecycle for on-site firearms guides, comparisons, and roundups, driving research, accuracy, and audience trust while collaborating across teams on topic development, editing, and community representation.
- Manages topic development from SEO insights through to reader-friendly breakdowns
- Ensures factual accuracy and editorial quality in a shooting-focused audience
Job Description
Responsibilities
- On-site content (writing new guides, comparisons, and best-of roundups, and updating and rebuilding existing ones)
- Independent research (surfacing expert testing, ballistic data, and trade sources, and keeping every attribution and link intact in the finished piece)
- Content quality review (reading drafted and published work and flagging what is inaccurate, awkward, or off-key for a shooting audience)
- Topic and angle development (taking a search opportunity from our SEO lead and shaping it into how someone in this space would actually break the subject down)
- Occasional photography and graphic design coordination
- Community presence (representing the brand in firearms communities, including Reddit)
- Cross-team sounding board (reviewing email and campaign copy, and flagging where the site itself gets in a buyer's way)
Requirements
- You buy ammunition and shoot regularly, across handgun, rifle, and shotgun
- Volunteers what you know instead of waiting to be asked for it
- Fluent in the US ammunition market, including what is available, what it costs, and what people actually run
- Professional writing experience with published work you can share
- Writes clean, accurate English prose
- Has used Claude or a comparable AI tool for research and can walk us through how
- Comfortable working asynchronously in a project management tool such as ClickUp
- Available for ongoing part-time work (~20 hours/week) as an integrated member of the team; this is a long-term seat, not a gig
Preferred
- Published bylines in firearms, hunting, or outdoor media
- Reloading, competitive shooting, hunting, or CCW instruction experience
- Working knowledge of SEO fundamentals
- Experience in retail firearms or ammunition, or with an FFL
Benefits
- Paid time off
- The first 90 days are a mutual look at whether this is the right fit for both parties
- Real ownership of a content library a lot of people read, and a direct line to the CMO
- Your judgment as a shooter changes what we publish. This is not a seat where domain knowledge gets overridden by a keyword tool
